Well, the day has finally arrived after 8 months of recording and refining just 2 songs – the very last recording session. I’m off to see my sound engineer Andrea to re-record the French vocal (yet again!). This is what some people would call suffering for your art, but I LOVE it! My French tutor Pauline has picked up on some incorrectly pronounced “R”s on Réflexions du samedi……I mean a shed load of the blighters! French people pronounce them at the back of the throat; they don’t roll their “R”s with the front of their tongue like we do.
I’ve been practicing so much trying to get them right that I’ve got a sore throat. It’s not easy; it’s completely alien to native English speakers, but it’s got to be done. I’ll let you know how I get on later…
All done and dusted. There’s no going back now because I’ve already sent the songs off to Ken Lewis in New York for production. Having said that, I’m really not convinced by all my “R”s, but they have been improved upon. I don’t mind people knowing I’m foreign. I just don’t want to sound like Inspector Clouseau or Officer Crabtree from ‘Alo ‘Alo. Thank you, Pauline, for saving me from that particular indignity.
